"Isolation exists only in isolation, once shared it evaporates" Irvin Yalom
I trained for 6 years in London. My studies were at Spectrum, a well respected Humanistic Integrative centre that trains psychotherapist in a largely experiential way. (http://www.spectrumtherapy.co.uk/). My professional training at Spectrum and other institutions includes the following:
A one year Intensive Course in Psychotherapy. This covered all the basics of humanistic therapy in a very intensive and experiential way.
A one year Continuation Course. This course is aimed to deepen and extend the understanding and experience of the students.
3 years of Post-Graduate Courses in Psychotherapy. The post-graduate courses allows participants to delve even deeper into specific topics such as counseling, group work and one 2 one work.
A three day "Women's Marathon". These marathons are residential and very intensive.
A 6 month Counseling Course. This course went into the details of the therapist-client relationship in counseling.
A Module on Sexuality. A women only group that explored the psychology of sexuality in an experiential fashion.
A Re-Parenting Intensive. This Intensive used considerable somatic body work to help participants discover old patterns and ways of behaviour within themselves.
An Anger Management Workshop. This workshop helped clarify my relationship to my feelings of anger and offered me constructive and appropriate ways of experiencing, expressing and meeting anger.
Non-Violent Communication workshop. Exploring the use of language within conflict.
Clinical Skills Workshop. A workshop shared with other experienced therapists developing and learning new approaches and experiencing others working professionally.
Imago Couples Relationship training. This has been in invaluable addition to my training. It has given me a clear frame work which creates safety in my work with couples.
Part of my training has included my own personal therapeutic development which has included the following:
One 2 One therapy. My One 2 One therapy experience has been invaluable to me. Through the warm, loving and firm guiding hand of my therapist I discovered myself and learnt to live more fully.
Women's Therapy Group. My Women's Therapy Group provided me with a space to be challenged, loved, accepted, questioned and pushed to take the steps I wanted to take.
Professional Supervision. As a therapist I am in Professional Supervision with another Therapist.
Professional Peer Support Group. This group brings me new ideas, information and the latest Humanistic Therapy thinking.
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy.
